BEREA, Ohio — You'd have to go back to 1987 to find the last time that a Baldwin-Wallace alum played in a regular-season NFL game.
It appears that drought, however, will be coming to an end, with KPRC 2's Aaron Wilson reporting that cornerback Anthony Kendall has made the Tennessee Titans' initial 53-man roster.
Should Kendall appear in a regular-season game, he would become just the 11th Baldwin-Wallace alum to do so and the first since tight end Ed Schenk appeared in three games for the Minnesota Vikings during the 1987 season. Prior to Schenk, the most recent former Yellow Jacket to play in the NFL was Washington Redskins offensive guard -- and one-time Cleveland Browns linebacker -- Tom Goosby.
A native of Port Richey, Florida, Kendall spent five seasons -- including the 2021 spring and fall campaigns -- playing at Baldwin-Wallace. As a senior, he earned multiple All-American honors and was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Lee J. Tressel Defensive Back of the Year and a All-Ohio Athletic Conference first-team selection after recording 12 pass breakups and three interceptions in 10 games.
After going undrafted, Kendall signed with the Titans -- becoming the first Baldwin-Wallace alum to sign with an NFL team since linebacker Keith Darbut spent time the Cincinnati Bengals and Seattle Seahawks in 2011. While plenty can still change between now and the start of the 2023 regular-season, Kendall's first chance to break the Yellow Jackets' 36-year drought in the NFL will come on Sept. 10 when Tennessee faces the New Orleans Saints.
