WATCH | Mike Polk Jr. urges Cleveland Browns fans not to get too upset after brutal Week 1 loss

"This is part of the learning process, and aren't you happy that it happened to you at this point in the season?"

CLEVELAND — Hey, well that certainly could've gone better! What are you gonna do?

DAWG POUND-ED: Undisciplined Browns don’t live up to hype, fall to Tennessee Titans, 43-13, in season opener

I know this is going to sound weird, but I think this actually is going to be good for this fan base in the long run. We were getting a little ahead of ourselves, buying into our own hype a bit too much! We saw a cover of Sports Illustrated, we thought, "Ah, what could go wrong? We're gonna crush it, just like everybody says!" It's not that easy folks.

This takes time. It doesn't happen overnight. You have to picture this team like a steamship that had been going in the wrong direction for hundreds and hundreds of years. When you turn around a steamship, it turns around slowly. It's going to happen, but it's going to happen slowly.

We have to learn how to win. This was never going to be handed to you on a platter, Cleveland. Nothing has ever been handed to you on a platter. It doesn't work that way.

This is part of the learning process, and aren't you happy that it happened to you at this point in the season? Knock some sense into us, make sure we didn't get too high on ourselves?

This is one to grow on, folks. It can only get better from here. Can't get much worse.
