Making his 2019 debut after serving a four-game suspension, Antonio Callaway entered the Cleveland Browns' Monday Night Football matchup vs. the San Francisco 49ers looking to make an impact.
Suffice to say, this wasn't what he had in mind.
With 4:45 remaining in the second quarter and the Browns trailing the 49ers by a score of 14-3, Cleveland quarterback Baker Mayfield dropped back at the San Francisco 6-yard line and locked in on Callaway, who appeared uncovered and with plenty of room to waltz into the end zone. Mayfield's pass, however, careened off of Callaway's hands and into the hands of 49ers defensive back K'Waun Williams, who turned the play into a 49-yard interception return.
Six players later, the 49ers had extended their lead to 21-3 after a 19-yard Tevin Coleman touchdown run capped a 49-yard drive. With the Browns unable to find the end zone and San Francisco missing two field goal attempts, the 49ers took a 21-3 lead into halftime of the Week 5 Monday night matchup.
As of halftime, Callaway is still looking to record his first reception of the 2019 season.
