As the Cleveland Browns continue their quest toward ending their 17-season postseason drought, quarterback Baker Mayfield has earned some hardware along the way.
On Wednesday, Mayfield was named FedEx Air NFL Player of the Week for his performance in the Browns' 41-35 victory over the Tennessee Titans in Week 13.
Helping advance Cleveland's record to 9-3 -- its best since 1994 -- Mayfield turned in his best performance of the season, completing 25 of his 33 pass attempts for 334 yards and four touchdowns. In the process, the No. 1 pick of the 2018 NFL Draft became the first Browns quarterback to throw four touchdown passes in a half since Hall of Famer Otto Graham did so in 1951.
In honor of Mayfield's performance, FedEx has teamed with Direct Relief to provide an emergency medical backpack -- which will help take care of 500 people in the community -- to a local community health center in Cleveland.
In addition to Mayfield, Matthew Stafford of the Detroit Lions and Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr were nominated for this week's award, which is ultimately selected by a fan vote. Mayfield won while receiving 70 percent of the vote, while Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones (130 yards, 1 touchdown) beat out New York Giants running back Wayne Gallman and Denver Broncos running back Melvin Gordon to be named the FedEx Ground Player of the Week.
