CLEVELAND — Editor's note: the video in the player above is from Dec. 14, 2020.
Facing a third and goal from the five-yard line, Cleveland Browns Baker Mayfield dropped back in hopes of finding an open receiver in the fourth quarter against the Baltimore Ravens on Monday night.
But rather than attempting a pass, the Browns quarterback opted to take it himself, rushing in a five-yard touchdown to tie the score at 34. Following a Cody Parkey extra point, Cleveland took a 35-34 with 6:33 remaining in the game.
One quarter prior, a Browns comeback seemed improbable, as Baltimore took a 34-20 lead late in the third quarter after a Mayfield interception set the Ravens up for a one-yard J.K. Dobbins touchdown. Cleveland, however, rallied to cut the lead to six with Mayfield finding Rashard Higgins for a 21-yard touchdown pass, with Donovan Peoples-Jones catching a tipped 2-point conversion.
The Browns have also been aided by the absence of Ravens star quarterback Lamar Jackson, who has missed multiple series' in the fourth quarter due to cramps. His return to the game remains questionable.
Laying claim to a 9-3 record, the Browns are looking to solidify their status as the AFC Wild Card frontrunner, while also gaining a game on the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC North. Meanwhile, the 7-5 Ravens are fighting for their postseason life, having already been eliminated in the AFC North race.
