Sunday was a rough day for Zane Gonzalez - not just the Cleveland Browns kicker by that name who missed two field-goal attempts and two extra-point tries in a 21-18 loss, with one of each coming very late in the game for a team that hasn't won since Dec. 24, 2016.
A University of Rio Grande baseball graduate assistant named Zane Gonzalez got plenty of mean Tweets apparently intended for the Cleveland kicker before he published a Tweet of his own:
Don't feel too bad for the baseball coach, of course, who has more followers now than he would have after his Tweet was liked about 25,000 times in 12 hours after he submitted it.
The Browns' kicker is on Twitter - @ZaneG_5 - and Instagram - @zanegonzalez5. And although he was blasted by LeBron James and many others, he also was consoled by opposing kicker Wil Lutz of the Saints in an incredibly sportsmanlike and empathetic move.
