Game preview
After winning three games against teams with a combined 4-8 record, the Browns will face their toughest opponent since their season-opening loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. In the Chargers, Cleveland will be tasked with containing one of the league's best young quarterbacks in Justin Herbert, who is surrounded by no shortage of weapons, including wide receivers Keenan Allen and Mike Williams and running back Austin Ekeler.
Los Angeles is loaded with talent on the other side of the ball too, with pass-rusher Joey Bosa and safety Derwin James giving the Chargers two of the best defensive players in the league. If the Browns are going to move to 4-1 on the season, they're going to need to take a step forward offensively after last weekend's disappointing performance in a low-scoring win over the Vikings.
In particular, Cleveland will need quarterback Baker Mayfield to get back on track and perhaps show some chemistry with wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. To this point in the season, the Browns have been able to win despite their flaws, but will need their most complete game to this point in the season to top a more evenly matched opponent on the road.
