On Wednesday, the NFL announced that it has flexed the Week 15 between the Browns and New York Giants at MetLife Stadium to Sunday Night Football. That means that the contest will air nationally on NBC and locally on Channel 3.

A matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers was originally slated to air on Sunday Night Football in Week 15. But with both teams currently on the outside looking in at the NFL playoff picture and enduring injury-plagued seasons, it seemed likely that the league would at least consider flexing another game into the primetime spot.

Enter the Browns and Giants, who have both enjoyed resurgences in 2020. At 9-3, Cleveland lays claim to its best record since 1994 and is currently in pole position to earn its first playoff appearance since 2002. Meanwhile, New York enters its Week 14 contest with the Arizona Cardinals at 5-7 and in first place of the NFC East.

Week 15 will mark the Browns' third primetime game of the 2020 season after facing the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday Night Football in Week 2 and the Ravens on Monday Night Football in Week 14. It marks Cleveland's second appearance on Sunday Night Football in as many years, following last season's Week 3 loss to the Los Angeles Rams at FirstEnergy Stadium.
