CLEVELAND — When the Cleveland Browns unveiled their new uniforms earlier this year, there was one noticeable element missing for many fans: orange pants.
It appears, however, the Browns have remedied that issue -- or have been hiding it for a surprise -- with executive vice president and owner J.W. Johnson taking to Twitter on Thursday afternoon to reveal that the team will be wearing orange pants with their brown jerseys when it faces the Cincinnati Bengals at FirstEnergy Stadium on Thursday Night Football on Thursday night.
"Did you really think we would have forgotten about Orange Pants!" Johnson tweeted. "Excited to break them out for #TheBattleOfOhio! Let’s Go #Browns #WinItTogether"
The Browns' official Twitter account also confirmed the news with a highlight reel video.
Shortly after the Browns unveiled their new uniforms, which marked a return to its most classic style after wearing a more modernized style from 2015-2019, Johnson hinted that orange pants may be on their way.
“Did people like the orange pants?’ I didn’t realize that. I didn’t know that that was something that was a big deal. Aw man, I guess we missed on that one," Johnson said, seemingly sarcastically, while appearing on the team's in-house radio show, Cleveland Browns Daily.
“I know orange pants have been part of the Kardiac Kids and a lot of tradition. But I don’t know, we’ll see. We’ll have to just stay tuned and see what happens there. So if we can find a way to talk Nike into getting us some orange pants, we’ll get to work on that. We’ll see what we can do.’’
