CLEVELAND — According to a quick Google search, Sept. 22 is many things, including National Ice Cream Cone Day, National Singles Day and National White Chocolate Day.
It also happens to be Batman Day.
Celebrated on the third Sunday of each September, Batman Day pays homage to the caped crusader -- even though the first Batman comic book was originally released in May. This year's holiday happens to be extra special, as it marks 80 years since the Dark Knight first appeared in Detective Comics #27.
And as he made his way into FirstEnergy Stadium for his team's matchup on Sunday Night Football, Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb made sure to celebrate the occasion.
Making his way from the parking garage toward the Browns' locker room on Sunday night, Chubb could be seen wearing a black t-shirt with white font. Written in the same shape as Batman's signature logo, the font on the shirt read "Cleveland," as the second-year running back managed to simultaneously pay homage to both his city and the Caped Crusader.
Chubb's shirt appears to be available on Etsy and costs between $16.99 and $19.99 depending on the size.
Chubb's fascination with Batman has been well-documented. In addition to having been spotted wearing other Batman apparel, including sweatshirts and pajama pants, the Georgia product confirmed to RedAndBlack.com last January that he is indeed a Dark Knight fanatic.
While the Browns may not need Chubb to be a superhero, they will need close to it on Sunday night facing a Rams team as talented as any in the NFL. Entering Week 3, Los Angeles ranks ninth in the league in rushing yards allowed per game, while Chubb has totaled 137 yards and 1 touchdown through Cleveland's 1-1 start to the 2019 campaign.
