Browns release S Morgan Burnett

11-year veteran started eight games last season, totaling 41 tackles

CLEVELAND — The NFL doesn't plan on delaying the start of its new league year despite concerns over the coronavirus pandemic so teams are staying busy when it comes to roster decisions. The Cleveland Browns are following suit.

On Monday morning, the team announced it has released veteran safety Morgan Burnett. 

Burnett, an 11-year veteran, started eight games this past season for the Browns totaling 41 tackles, two sacks and one interception, before suffering a season-ending Achilles injury during Cleveland's 21-7 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers during Week 11.

In his career, Burnett has appeared in 121 games with 112 starts, making 770 tackles with 10 interceptions.
