Game preview

While the Browns' lost their 2021 season opener to the Chiefs, the game was largely viewed as a positive for Cleveland, outside of the final score. For four quarters, the Browns hung with the two-time defending AFC champions and their star quarterback Patrick Mahomes before making multiple self-inflicted mistakes that helped hand the game to Kansas City.

After entering Week 1 as an underdog, Cleveland now finds itself a 12.5-point favorite against a Texans team projected to be one of the worst in the NFL this season. With star quarterback Deshaun Watson sidelined due to a trade demand and off-field concerns, Houston finds itself relying on veteran quarterback -- and former Browns signal-caller -- Tyrod Taylor, who helped engineer the Texans to a Week 1 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

While Houston is 1-0 and the Browns are 0-1, the expectation for many is that those records will be evened by the end of Sunday. Now it's just a matter of seeing if Cleveland can live up to the hype and avoid what would be its first 0-2 start since 2017.
