CLEVELAND — It has been a record setting weather weekend throughout the country and the bitter cold of this winter storm set yet another record off the shores of Lake Erie Saturday afternoon.
According to the Cleveland Browns, today's week 16 matchup against the New Orleans Saints is officially the coldest game in regular season history!
The official recorded kickoff temperature at FirstEnergy Stadium clocked in at a brisk six degrees. The WKYC weather team recorded the official wind chill throughout the city of Cleveland at -12 for the 1 p.m. kickoff.
That however didn't stop Browns tight end David Njoku from keeping his pregame ritual alive by warming up on the field shirtless in the arctic conditions.
It's a sight you have to see to believe!
David Njoku is built different.
The Browns will be looking for a better result in the coldest regular season game in Cleveland than the coldest game ever. Many will remember that game well. The only home game colder than today's game is the infamous "Red Right 88" in 1981 game in which kickoff temps were recorded at a mere one degrees.
It won't come as a shock to know that the bitter cold hasn't deterred Browns fans from showing up to support their team on this Christmas Eve Saturday. 3News' Kierra Cotton caught up with many from the hallowed grounds of the Muni Lot this morning before the stadium opened.
