If one were going to make a Mount Rushmore of Browns players post-1999, Phil Dawson wouldn't only have a strong case -- he'd practically be a lock.

Signed as a free agent prior to Cleveland's first season back in the NFL, Dawson went on to serve as the team's starting kicker for 14 seasons. In that span, the Texas product became the Browns' second all-time leader in points scored with 1,271, trailing only Lous Groza's 1,349 points.

In addition to ranking first in franchise history in field goals made (305) and field goal percentage (84 percent), as well as third in extra points made (350) and extra point percentage (97.8 percent), Dawson made several game-winning kicks over the course of his time in Cleveland, including a 56-yarder to beat the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football in 2008. As far as this past decade is concerned, Dawson made 76 of his 88 field goal attempts (88.6 percent), including 14 of his 18 attempts from 50 or more yards for the Browns between 2010-2012.

After playing four seasons with the San Francisco 49ers and two with the Arizona Cardinals, he signed a one-day contract with the Browns to retire as a member of the team prior to the 2019 season.

Next up, the candidates for the Browns All-Decade Team punter:

Reggie Hodges (2009-2012)

Served as the Browns' primary punter in 2010 and 2012, missing the entirety of the 2011 season due to injury. Attempted 213 punts in 40 games over the course of three seasons in Cleveland, totalling 8,979 yards (42.2 average) with a long of 59 in 2010. Famously rushed for 68 yards on a fake punt during the Browns' win over the defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints in 2010.

Spencer Lanning (2013-2014)

Served as the Browns' starting punter for two seasons. Totaled 177 punts for 7,798 yards (44.1 average) in 32 games. Kicked career-long punts of 59 yards in both 2013 and 2014.

Andy Lee (2015)

A 3-time first-team All-Pro acquired in a trade with the San Francisco 49ers prior to the 2015 season. Started 16 games for the Browns, kicking 70 punts for 3,270 yards (46.7 average), including a long of 67 yards.

Britton Colquitt (2016-2018)

Signed as a free agent with the Browns prior to the 2016 season. Appeared in 48 games with Cleveland over the course of three seasons, kicking 246 punts for 11,339 yards (46.1 average). Kicked a career-long 79-yard punt in 2018, which was good for the longest punt by any player in the NFL all season.
