BEREA, Ohio — Cleveland Browns' rookie Cade York is receiving national recognition following his historic Week 1 performance.
On Wednesday, the NFL announced that York was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week.
The award comes after York kicked a 58-yard game-winning field goal in his NFL debut with the Browns, giving Cleveland a 26-24 victory over the Carolina Panthers. The win marked Cleveland's first Week 1 victory since the 2004 season and first Week 1 road win since 1994.
York's 58-yard field goal is tied for the second-longest field goal in Brown's history.

The fourth-round pick out of LSU is the first Browns kicker to earn AFC Special Team Player of the Week honors since Phil Dawson did so in Week 15 in 2005. The last Browns player to win the award was punter Jamie Gillian, who did so in Week 2 of the 2019 season.
