NFL announces Cleveland Browns will open 2024 season at home against Dallas Cowboys

The matchup will kick off at 4:25 p.m. on Sept. 8 and be featured as 'America's Game of the Week' on Fox as Tom Brady's debut announcing for the network.

CLEVELAND โ€” We're still two days away from the NFL's official schedule release, but the league has already revealed a few nuggets to satisfy fans' appetites.

It was Cleveland's turn to receive an early gift on Monday, as the NFL confirmed the Browns will host the Dallas Cowboys to open the 2024 regular season on Sept. 8. The matchup will kick off at 4:25 p.m. and be featured as "America's Game of the Week" on Fox.

With the Browns coming off a playoff appearance, it seems natural that they would be featured in some marquee slots this year, and any game featuring Dallas is bound to have a lot of eyeballs on it. The schedule is slated to get a little tougher on paper following a second-place finish in the AFC North, and the always tough NFC East also comes up in the rotation this year.

The Browns will have eight home games and nine away game this season, with the New York Giants also coming to Cleveland Browns Stadium along with teams like the Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins, among others. The road lineup features the Washington Commanders and Philadelphia Eagles, and could also see Cleveland play the Jacksonville Jaguars in London.

As the Week 1 showdown will be Fox's top game, it was also announced Monday that it will be NFL legend Tom Brady's debut as the network's lead game analyst with play-by-play man Kevin Burkhardt. Brady will replace Greg Olson in the booth after signing a reported $375 million contract.

This will be the Browns' 33rd all-time meeting against the Cowboys (including the playoffs), with Cleveland leading the overall series 18-14. The team snapped a four-game losing streak against Dallas back in 2020 with a 49-38 win in Arlington.

The entire NFL schedule will be unveiled Wednesday at 8 p.m.
