CLEVELAND — Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku took to Instagram on Wednesday evening to share a picture revealing the burns he suffered on his face at the end of September.
Njoku's burns happened when he was lighting a firepit in his back yard just days before the team's game against the Baltimore Ravens.
Njoku shared the picture on social media with the caption "Legacy."
Following the incident, Njoku still played for the Browns in their 28-3 loss against the Ravens on Oct. 1. Despite playing with the burns, Njoku tallied a team-high six receptions and 46 receiving yards in the loss.
Additionally, Njoku announced that he is teaming up with the American Burn Association to raise awareness.
"I want to use my platform to help bring awareness to an all too common issue and shed some positive light on an otherwise unfortunate incident. With that said, I’m proud to launch the new Njoku 'Withstand' merch line, supporting burn care, prevention, and research. 🙏 Every purchase of Withstand on my MILLIONS.co profile will have a share of proceeds donated to help the American Burn Association. Let's make a difference together! 💪"
