KEY WEST, Fla. — The Cleveland Browns have waived defensive end Lonnie Phelps following his arrest on drunk driving charges in Key West, Florida, on Wednesday night.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, Phelps was arrested on Petronia Street in Key West at around 9:47 p.m. and was charged with a DUI.
Phelps came to the Browns as an undrafted free agent on May 12, 2023. The team later waived him and signed him to the practice squad for the 2023 season. In January, the team signed Phelps to a reserve/future contract.
He started his collegiate career at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where he played for three seasons. He then transferred to the University of Kansas for the 2022 season and was named second-team All-Big 12.
Phelps is scheduled to be arraigned in court on July 2 at 9 a.m.
