CLEVELAND — Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson will miss the remainder of the 2024 season after rupturing his Achilles in the team's Week 7 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Browns posted a statement on Monday afternoon stating that an MRI revealed that Watson ruptured his right Achilles tendon. The injury will require surgical repair, and he will miss the rest of the 2024 season.
According to the Browns, a full recovery is expected for Watson.

Watson’s non-contact injury came on a designed QB run play late in the first half of the team’s game on Sunday. The 28-year-old went down almost immediately and began clutching his right leg while being tended to by the training staff.
Following the injury, fans were heard booing the controversial quarterback as he was carted off the field.
"We don’t boo the guys that are injured on the field, especially with the extent where the cart comes out," Browns star DE Myes Garrett said during a postgame press conference. "We should be ashamed of ourselves as Browns and as fans to boo anyone and their downfall. Could be a season-altering, career-altering injury."
Watson had been struggling during the first six weeks of the season and was even booed by Cleveland fans during player introductions at Huntington Bank Field.
Since arriving in Cleveland in 2022, when Watson signed a $230 million guaranteed contract, his time with the club has been mired not just by inconsistent play, but his inability to stay on the field for one reason or another.
During his first season, he was suspended for the first 11 games following more than two dozen allegations of sexual misconduct. Last year, Watson played in six of the first nine contests before being sidelined for the remainder of the season with a fractured shoulder.
Since coming to Cleveland, Watson has played in 19 games, averaging a 61.2 completion rate, throwing for 3,365 yards and 19 touchdowns. The Clemson product has thrown 12 interceptions and has been sacked 70 times during his time with the team.
