CLEVELAND — Preparations are underway for "Thursday Night Football," where the Browns will take on the Pittsburgh Steelers at FirstEnergy Stadium.
From Amazon Prime cables being plugged in to lights being set up and liquor stores filling in, Cleveland is almost ready for the game.
3News learned that Amazon Prime crews arrived in Cleveland on Tuesday to set up for the Thursday night game. Meanwhile, business owners like Brent Lewanski — who owns The Ivy on West 6th Street and coordinates a massive tailgate — began preparations months ahead of the season.
"Planning is just a lot of work," Lewanski said.
Lewanksi and the owners of other businesses on West 6th are in their second year of shutting down the street for tailgates before Browns games. The Ivy, The Velvet Dog, Dive Bar, and Barley House unite to bring Clevelanders together on game day.
"We want to have one central tailgate to root on, obviously, our Cleveland Browns," Lewanski declared.
Lewanski told 3News that West 6th, from St. Clair to West Lakeside Avenues, will close at 2 p.m. The tailgate will start at 4 o'clock on Thursday, with kickoff at First Energy Stadium at 8:15 p.m.
"Steelers [fans] travel so well," event and marketing coordinator of The Velvet Dog Georgina Barnett said. "I have no doubt that it will just be as packed as the home opener."
The businesses on West 6th wanted to unite and bring a tailgate that welcomed all Browns fans.
"It is truly the best tailgate party," Lewanski asserted.
