Preview

It has been quite the week for both the Browns and the Vikings.

The Minnesota Vikings came to Cleveland on Tuesday for two joint practices with the Browns ahead of Saturday's preseason contest. On Wednesday, the Vikings announced that rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy will be out for the 2024 season after having meniscus surgery. Now, the Vikings will turn to 27-year-old Sam Darnold as their signal caller.

Hours later, Minnesota's No. 2 wide receiver Jordan Addison sustained a left ankle injury during practice and is expected to miss some time.

On the other side, the Browns have been dealing with the news of rookie DT Mike Hall Jr. being arrested and charged in an alleged domestic violence incident. However, after appearing in court and pleading not guilty, Hall returned to the team on Wednesday, but was injured during an 11-on-11 drill.

Earlier this week, head coach Kevin Stefanski announced that QB Deshaun Watson has been cleared for contact and will play in the team's final preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks.

While Stefanski rests his starters on Saturday, QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson will be in the spotlight and getting the start. DTR shined in the team's 23-10 loss against the Green Bay Packers, throwing for 134 yards and completing 14 of 18 passes.

Saturday's game is crucial for DTR as he continues to fight for the No. 3 QB spot with Tyler Huntley, who will finish the game, according to Stefanski.

As of Thursday night, Minnesota's head coach, Kevin O'Connell, was undecided on how much he will play his starters on Saturday.
