Preview
Coming off their third win in the past four games, the Browns kept their playoff chances alive -- but time is running out.
In fact, Cleveland will officially be eliminated from postseason contention with its next loss -- and could even be eliminated as early as this weekend regardless of the outcome of its own game.
In order for the Browns to qualify for the playoffs, they need five of the seven things to occur over the course of the final three weeks of the 2022 season:
- Raiders go 2-1 or worse
- Jaguars go 2-1 or worse or Titans go 2-1 or worse
- Jets go 1-2 or worse
- Patriots go 1-2 or worse
- Dolphins go 0-3
- Chargers go 0-3
- Ravens go 0-3
But in order for any of that to matter, Cleveland must first go 3-0, starting with a win over a Saints team that despite a disappointing record, remains in the mix of the NFC South division race. With a winter storm expected to hit Cleveland as early as Friday, whether will almost certainly be a factor at FirstEnergy Stadium, which could mean a heavy dose of Kareem Hunt, depending on Nick Chubb's availability for the game.
