While the Cleveland Browns just lost one star wide receiver to injury, it appears they may soon be getting another one back. Taking to Twitter on Monday, Odell Beckham Jr. hinted that his 2021 debut could be around the corner -- perhaps as soon as later this week.
"We [waiting] slimeball!" Beckham tweeted at fellow Browns wide receiver Jarvis Landry, replying to a post regarding Landry's sprained MCL, which will keep him sidelined on a week-to-week basis. "Keep that pain on ya… we [gonna] hold it down."
Landry's "week-to-week" designation, coupled with Beckham having never been placed on injured reserve would seem to indicate that the latter could make his return to the field as soon as this Sunday's Week 3 matchup with the Chicago Bears. A three-time Pro Bowl selection, Beckham has missed Cleveland's first two games this season as he has continued to recover from a torn ACL that cost him the final nine regular-season games and two postseason games during the Browns' 2020 campaign.
Should Beckham be able to play against the Bears, it could provide a big boost to a Cleveland wide receiving corps that will likely be without Landry. Speaking to reporters on Monday, Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski indicated that Beckham's availability would not be impacted by Landry's impending absence.
“The Odell situation is really not dependent on the availability of anybody else," Stefanski said. "We will again continue to bring him along and see when he is ready to go."
