CLEVELAND — Help is on the way for Myles Garrett and the Cleveland Browns defensive line after the team and free agent edge rusher Ogbonnia Okoronkwo agreed to a 3-year deal according to NFL Insider Ian Rapoport.
According to Rapoport, the deal is worth $19 million with a chance to raise it to $22 million with incentives. Okoronkwo will receive $12 million in guaranteed money over the lifespan of the deal.
Okoronkwo spent three largely forgettable seasons with the Los Angeles Rams compiling only four and a half sacks. After signing with the Houston Texans for the 2022 season, Okoronkwo burst onto the scene after being inserted into the starting lineup totaling five sacks and 11 QB hits.
Pro Football Focus ranked Okoronkwo as the sixth-best pass-rusher in the league from Week 7 through the end of the season.
Okoronkwo will look to help fill the void left by the departing Jadeveon Clowney.
