The Cleveland Browns will be without one of their edge rushers for the remainder of the season.

The team announced on Tuesday morning that defensive end Takkarist McKinley is out for the year after tearing his left Achilles tendon in Monday evening’s loss to the Las Vegas Raiders. McKinley was carted off the field late in the third quarter.

McKinley signed a one-year contract with the Browns this offseason and had been a relatively productive player for the Browns, playing in 11 games, with two starts. He finishes the season with 18 tackles, three tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and a forced fumble.

This injury will put even more weight on the shoulders of All-Pro defensive end Myles Garrett, and the team must hope to get back defensive end Jadeveon Clowney from the COVID-19/reserve list.

This marks the second consecutive season that the Browns have lost one of their pass rushers to a torn Achilles, as defensive end Olivier Vernon suffered the same injury in December of last season.

The Cleveland Browns are now preparing for their next match-up. In a short week, the team is scheduled to take on the Green Bay Packers on Christmas Day.
