CLEVELAND — In the midst of a disappointing 1-5 season, the Cleveland Browns have traded Pro Bowl wide receiver Amari Cooper to the Buffalo Bills.

The Browns will receive a third-round draft pick in 2025 and a seventh-round pick in 2026. The Bills will get a sixth-round draft pick in 2025 in addition to Cooper.

"We appreciate Amari's hard work, professionalism and on-field contributions throughout his two plus seasons with us. He created many memorable moments with us and was an integral part of our 2023 playoff team. We wish him the best in Buffalo as he continues his NFL career," Browns Executive Vice President of Football Operations and General Manager Andrew Berry said in a statement.

Cooper arrived in Cleveland in 2022 after a trade with the Dallas Cowboys. In his first two full seasons with the Browns, the 30-year-old caught 150 passes for 2,410 yards and 14 touchdowns. Cooper was the first player in Browns' history to record consecutive 1,000-yard receiving seasons (1,160 in 2022 and 1,250 in 2023). He was selected to his fifth career Pro Bowl in 2023, which was also highlighted by a dazzling performance in Houston on Christmas Eve, when Cooper broke the team record for receiving yards in a game with 265 in a 36-22 win.

Like the Browns season in general, the start to 2024 has been underwhelming for Cooper. In six games, he has recorded 24 receptions for 250 yards and two touchdowns. His nine dropped passes lead the NFL.

Cooper held out of the team's mandatory minicamp in June as he sought a new deal from the Browns. At the start of training camp, the two sides agreed to a restructuring of his contract to give Cooper a guaranteed $20 million base salary along with an additional $5 million in incentives.
