Game preview

After falling to 3-3 on the season following Sunday's loss to the Cardinals, the Browns won't have to wait long for their next chance to get back to their winning ways. Hosting a contest on Thursday Night Football for the fourth consecutive season, Cleveland will be welcoming in a Denver team that has lost three straight games after a 3-0 start to the season.

Already, the Browns know that they will be without their starting backfield, with quarterback Baker Mayfield (shoulder) and running backs Nick Chubb (calf) and Kareem Hunt (calf) missing the contest due to injury. In Mayfield's place, Case Keenum will get his first start at quarterback since the 2019 season when he played for Washington.

With Mayfield, Chubb and Hunt -- as well as linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah (ankle) -- Cleveland is also monitoring the health of offensive tackles Jedrick Wills Jr. (ankle) and Jack Conklin (knee), as well as wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. (shoulder). The Broncos, meanwhile, have listed their own starting quarterback, Teddy Bridgewater, questionable for the contest due to a foot injury.

With 10 days off before their first divisional game against the Steelers on Oct. 31, Cleveland desperately needs a win to keep its playoff hopes alive. A loss, meanwhile, could prove catastrophic in the Browns' bid to make the postseason for a second consecutive season.
