CLEVELAND — The Browns on Tuesday announced they have waived tackle Devaroe Lawrence, who has played every game this year on the team's defensive line.
Fellow DT Larry Ogunjobi will take Lawrence's place on the active roster. Ogunjobi had been serving a one-game suspension for his role in the brawl at the end of a Thursday night matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Undrafted out of Auburn in 2017, Lawrence spent that first season rehabbing a torn ACL with the New Orleans Saints before being picked up by Cleveland in 2018. After bouncing between the team and the practice squad, he made the opening day roster this season.
Appearing in all 11 games (including two starts), the 27-year-old Lawrence tallied eight tackles and recovered one fumble. Additionally, he had an interception in the Browns' Week 4 win over the Baltimore Ravens.
Lawrence's release leaves seven defensive linemen on the Browns' active roster. The team has been without former All-Pro Olivier Vernon for the past three games and has already lost sacks leader Myles Garrett for the season due to a suspension stemming from the Pittsburgh brawl.
