New Cleveland Browns WR Jerry Jeudy signs 3-year contract extension

According to NFL Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, the new deal is worth up to $58 million and includes $41 million in guaranteed money.

CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Browns have signed newly-acquired WR Jerry Jeudy to a three-year contract extension.

Jeudy came to the Browns via a trade with the Denver Broncos before the start of free agency with just one year left in his rookie contract. Cleveland sent a fifth and sixth round pick to Denver as part of the deal.

According to NFL Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, the new deal is worth up to $58 million and includes $41 million in guaranteed money.

“When we acquired Jerry via trade this spring, it was with the vision that he would become a core member of our offense in 2024 and beyond,” Executive Vice President of Football Operations and General Manager Andrew Berry said. “He is a scheme-versatile receiver with high-level ability to separate against man coverage and a diverse number of ways to produce on the perimeter or in the slot.

“We felt that the ability to add a passionate and competitive player with his combination of strengths would be an important component of our offense now and into the future,” Berry continued. “At 24-years-old and just entering his prime, we are pleased to have Jerry as a member of the Browns for the next several seasons and believe the best is yet to come.”

Jeudy released the following statement after signing the extension:

“It means a lot to be able to have the opportunity to change my family’s life and be a part of a great organization that is building a winning culture. So, I'm very excited and looking forward to the future,” Jeudy said. “This who I do it for. This is who I grind for, and this is who keeps me motivated to keep being the best version of myself so I could be able to provide and take care of all of them. So excited just to have them here with me.”

With the move to lock up Jeudy for the foreseeable future, the Browns now have a major decision to make in terms of the amount of money they feel comfortable committing to the wide receiver room beyond the 2024-25 season.

Receivers Amari Cooper and Elijah Moore are both in the last year of their contracts. Cooper, in particular, has done nothing but produce for the myriad of Browns quarterbacks forced into action because of Deshaun Watson's 2022 suspension and 2023 injuries.

Cooper has turned in seven 1,000 yard receiving seasons in his nine-year career, including the last two as a member of the Browns. Jeudy has yet to eclipse the 1,000 yard mark in his first four years as a pro.
