CLEVELAND — After Myles Garrett tweeted that he had been punched by a fan who had just asked him for a photo, many were left asking one question: Who would do such a thing?
Cleveland Police believe they have the answer.
Shortly after Garrett tweeted about the incident on Wednesday afternoon, Cleveland Police sent out a police report identifying a 24-year-old Strongsville man as the accused perpetrator.
According to a police narrative, Garrett said he was sitting in his car on E. 9th Street and speaking on his cell phone when a man driving a 2007 Chevy Cobalt pulled up next to his car and asked for a picture. After Garrett told the man to wait until after he finished his phone call, the man exited his car and approached Garrett's driver side window, which was down, and took a photo.
Following the photo, the man "struck Garrett in the face with a closed fist." He then proceeded to get back into his car and flee the scene in an unknown direction.
Garrett was not injured as a result of the incident.

The man was positively identified by Garrett after police ran his license plate number. The police report lists the man at 5-foot-7 and 160 pounds. Garrett, who leads the NFL in sacks this season with 9 through six games, is listed as 6-foot-4 and 272 pounds.
"A 'fan' hopped out his car to take a picture with me and then punched me in my face," Garrett wrote on Twitter on Wednesday. "Hm, put your legs into it might have actually made me flinch."
No charges have been filed.
