CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Browns ruled out three players for Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos at Empower Field in Denver.
Safety Damarious Randall (hamstring), defensive back Eric Murray (knee) and tight end Pharaoh Brown (concussion) were ruled out as the Browns (2-5, third place in AFC North Division) try to get back in the win column for the first time in more than a month when they take the field in Colorado on Sunday.
Randall will miss his second straight game with a hamstring injury, while Brown suffered the concussion in last Sunday’s 27-13 loss to the undefeated New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.
Murray was unable to practice Thursday or Friday with the knee injury.
In addition to the “out” declarations, the Browns placed defensive lineman Daniel Ekuale on injured reserve because of a calf injury. Also, the Browns elevated tight end Stephen Carlson from the practice squad to fill Brown’s spot on the roster.
Randall missed two games earlier this week with a concussion, but in four starts at safety, he has registered 20 total tackles, including 15 solo stops and five assists, the first two sacks of his NFL career, which resulted in nine lost yards, and three passes defended.
In his first year with the Browns, Murray has collected 22 total tackles, including 15 solo stops and seven assists, with one sack and one pass defended. Murray started three straight games for the Browns earlier this season, including two in place of Randall.
A native of Lyndhurst, Ohio, and graduate of Brush High School, Brown has two receptions for 27 yards with a long play of 18 yards this season, his second with the Browns.
