Last November, Odell Beckham Jr. made headlines when he appeared to orchestrate his exit from the Cleveland Browns.
But as the three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver prepares to play in Super Bowl 56 as a member of the Los Angeles Rams, he isn't receiving anything but love from his former teammates.
During his availability as a part of the Super Bowl's media day on Monday night, Beckham received a message from not a reporter, but rather, one of his former teammates and closest friends. Crashing the virtual media day was Browns wide receiver Jarvis Landry, who shared a message of encouragement with his former Cleveland and LSU teammate.
"I don't got no questions man, but I wanted to start by saying, dog, that you're deserving of this moment. You put countless hours to [get to] where you are today," Landry said. "I witnessed it all firsthand. You've got scars to show for where you are today. This is a dream that you're actually turning into a reality and I just wanted to come on here and let you know that I'm proud of you, bro, and that so many people are supporting you every step of the way. Continue to use your light. Continue to be a blessing to others.
"I love you. Go get that ring!"
After stating that Landry's message gave him chills, Beckham replied: "I really mean this from the bottom of my heart, I just want to tell you this though, but besides Pops, there's man who has ever came into my life and has had the effect and impact that you've had to make me a better player, person, man, soon-to-be father, brother, lover. You've shown me the light, dog, and I love you so much, bro. This moment is for us. This is everything we ever talked about. I appreciate you coming on here. You know it's nothing but love."
The emotional interaction between Landry and Beckham received an outpouring of support on social media from other members of Cleveland's roster, including tight end David Njoku and wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones.
Three months ago, Beckham's two-plus-year career in Cleveland came to an end after reportedly requested a trade from the team following a slow start to the 2021 season. While the Browns ultimately didn't trade the 2014 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, the two sides came to terms on a release just days after Beckham's father, Odell Beckham Sr., posted an 11-minute video to his verified Instagram account showing Cleveland quarterback Baker Mayfield missing his son on various throws.
After becoming a free agent, Beckham opted to sign a one-year deal with Los Angeles, where he has become a key cog in the Rams' passing game, including a nine-catch, 113-yard performance in their NFC Championship Game victory over the San Francisco 49ers.
