CLEVELAND — Two months after he was officially enshrined in Canton, Joe Thomas will complete his Hall of Fame collection.
On Thursday, the Pro Football Hall of Fame announced that its Class of 2023 will receive its Hall of Fame Rings of Excellence at games throughout the upcoming 2023 NFL season. That includes Thomas, who will receive his ring when the Cleveland Browns host the Baltimore Ravens at Cleveland Browns Stadium in a Week 4 matchup on Sunday, Oct. 1.
Along with the Hall of Fame gold jacket and bronze busts, the Ring of Excellence marks one of the Hall of Fame's "three iconic symbols."
"All three representations of membership in sports’ most exclusive club will be displayed during special presentations for the teams’ fans to pay tribute to these Hall of Famers," the Hall of Fame noted in a release.
Produced by KAY Jewelers, the Rings of Excellence include 14K of gold and 1.75 carats of diamonds. Each ring is also customized to reflect the Hall of Fame inductee's unique career.
Earlier this month, the 38-year-old Thomas was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in what marked his first year on the ballot. Selected by the Browns out of Wisconsin with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, Thomas established himself as one of the best left tackles in football history during his 11 seasons with the franchise. During his time in Cleveland, he was named to 10 consecutive Pro Bowls (2007-16) and earned six first-team and two second-team All-Pro selections, all while playing an NFL record 10,363 consecutive offensive snaps before a torn triceps injury ended his 2017 season — and ultimately his career.
