Kenny Britt named one of five worst signings of 2017 offseason

Britt lasted just nine games in Cleveland after signing a 4-year, $32.5 million deal last offseason.

Now a member of the New England Patriots, Kenny Britt is busy preparing for this weekend's AFC Championship Game

His former team, meanwhile, continues to pay the public price for signing the veteran wide receiver.

On Tuesday morning, ESPN's Dan Graziano released his list of the best and worst free agent signings of the 2017 offseason. And to the surprise of perhaps no one, the Cleveland Browns' signing of Britt made the cut as one of the five worst signings from a year ago.

Per Graziano:

The Browns let Terrelle Pryor Sr., who had success in Cleveland in 2016, leave and replaced him with Britt, who caught 18 passes (and dropped four) for 233 yards in nine games before they cut him and he finished the season as a Patriots reclamation project. The Browns gave Britt $10.5 million guaranteed, including a $6.5 million signing bonus and a $4 million fully guaranteed 2017 salary, for 18 catches. In related news, the Browns didn't win a game all season.

To Cleveland's credit, the Washington Redskins' signing of Pryor was named a "dishonorable mention" as the former Brown caught just 20 passes for 240 yards and 1 touchdown in 2017. Pryor, however, signed just a one-year, $8 million deal with Washington, while Cleveland guaranteed -- and paid -- Britt $10.5 million.

On Tuesday, ESPN also re-graded the 2017 offseason of every NFL team. And with the Browns earning a retroactive D for its efforts, perhaps it's not a surprise that they just wrapped up the second 0-16 season in NFL history.
