LeBron James might now be in Los Angeles, but at least a part of his heart remains in Cleveland.
On Friday -- two days before the first NFL Sunday of the season -- the former Cavaliers superstar expressed his enthusiasm for the Browns' upcoming season.
Retweeting a post on his video platform UNINTERRUPTED made by Cleveland starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor, James wished the Browns well in the coming year, stating, "I Can’t Wait to watch y’all!!! Good luck all season long."
James' history with the Browns is a complicated one.
Despite having been born and raised in Akron, James grew up a fan of the Dallas Cowboys. In recent years, however, he's shown increasing support for his hometown franchise, although like many, he was willing to criticize some of the team's more baffling personnel moves.
"I've got a lot of opinions on the Browns," James said last October, as the Browns marched toward and 0-16 season. "But I'm not going to get into that."
"I think Deshaun Watson should be a Brown," James said, referring to his suggestion that the New York Knicks should have drafted point guard Dennis Smith Jr. "That doesn't mean that Myles Garrett is not going to be a great football player. Deshaun Watson should have been our quarterback."
Following the Browns' decision to replace general manager Sashi Brown with John Dorsey, however, James has since changed his tune. Replying to a tweet made by Tom Withers of the Associated Press the 4-time MVP stated that he now believes in the direction of the franchise, which will kick another new era on Sunday.
