CLEVELAND — For the first time since 2008, the Cleveland Browns are appearing on Sunday Night Football.
Tonight, the Browns will play host to the defending NFC Champion Los Angeles Rams at FirstEnergy Stadium. It's going to be an incredible night in our city and a great atmosphere at game time.
But can the Browns pull off the victory?
Earlier this week, Channel 3 Sports Anchor and the "Voice of the Browns," Jim Donovan previewed the game with former Browns quarterback Bernie Kosar on their weekly show, Dawg Pound Radio, on Sirius XM's NFL Channel. You can hear a clip from the show below:
"They (The Browns) know the drill of being an underdog team," Jimmy stated. "I think they'll be comfortable."
"I am absolutely am excited for the team and for ourselves," Bernie replied. "This is why we play the game."
It's not surprising that Kosar is pumped up to watch his team play under the lights at FirstEnergy Stadium. Some of his best moments in a Cleveland uniform came during Monday Night Football. In 1986, Kosar threw for 401 yards to lead the Browns over the Miami Dolphins in a Monday Night clash which was also his coming out party as an elite NFL quarterback.
"Of course, it's a litmus test, the barometer of where we stand," Bernie continued. "But just from a pure excitement level, from a players and coaching standpoint, this is really why we play the game."
There's no secret that the Browns are shorthanded for tonight's matchup. The list of starters out with injuries includes TE David Njoku, LB Christian Kirksey, S Damarious Randall, and reportedly CB Denzel Ward.
Yet, Bernie Kosar still believes that you'll see a Browns team up to the challenge of facing the formidable Rams.
"This is why we love the NFL. This young team, this staff. I know we'll be ready to play on Sunday," Bernie said.
