Mark Wahlberg bets on Cleveland Browns to win at least 6 games in 2018

Actor Mark Wahlberg revealed to TMZ that he's optimistic about the Cleveland Browns' outlook for the 2018 season, going so far as to bet on the team's over win total for the year.

The Cleveland Browns may have only amassed a 1-31 record in the last two seasons. But don't try using that logic when it comes to Mark Wahlberg.

Captured by TMZ cameras earlier this week, "The Departed" actor was asked about a reportedly "hefty" bet he made on his beloved New England Patriots to win the Super Bowl this season. Wahlberg, however, corrected the paparazzo in question, revealing that he made three bets at the new sportsbook at the Ocean Resort Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey:

1. The Philadelphia Eagles to return to the Super Bowl.

2. The New England Patriots to return to the Super Bowl.

And...

"And then I bet that the Browns would win more than 5.5 games," Wahlberg said proudly. "With Baker Mayfield at the helm."

Despite the Browns' historically poor record over the course of the previous two seasons -- including an 0-16 campaign in 2017 -- there's reason to believe Wahlberg's bet could pay off. It may not be with Mayfield behind center, however, as Cleveland head coach Hue Jackson will rely on an influx of recently acquired veterans, including quarterback Tyrod Taylor, wide receiver Jarvis Landry and safety Damarious Randall.

Factor in the litany of highly touted prospects the team has drafted recently and the idea of the Browns making at least a six-win improvement from last season may not seem so far-fetched. And if that does wind up being what happens, Wahlberg now stands to profit.

How much? Wahlberg, who is worth a reported $225 million, wasn't willing to share.

"That's a private matter," the "Ted" star said with a smile. "But you know what? We have faith."
