Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. to play in Jarvis Landry's celebrity softball game

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. will play in Jarvis Landry's celebrity softball game at Classic Park this weekend.

EASTLAKE, Ohio — For the first time since suffering a season-ending torn ACL last fall, Odell Beckham Jr. will return to the playing field in Northeast Ohio on Saturday.

Albeit, the Cleveland Browns wide receiver will be playing on a baseball diamond and not the gridiron.

On Monday, the 2021 Jarvis Landry & Friends Celebrity Softball Game announced that Beckham is the latest addition to the event's star-studded roster. Fellow Browns players Baker Mayfield, Myles Garrett, David Njoku, Kareem Hunt, Donovan Peoples-Jones, Denzel Ward, Jedrick Wills Jr., and Mack Wilson had previously been announced for the event, as have Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Darius Garland, Browns legend Bernie Kosar and a slew of NFL players including Travis Kelce (Kansas City Chiefs), Darius Leonard (Indianapolis Colts), Diontae Johnson (Pittsburgh Steelers), Terrell Edmunds (Pittsburgh Steelers), Henry Ruggs III (Las Vegas Raiders), Irv Smith Jr., (Minnesota Vikings), Ted Ginn Jr. (Free agent), Vinny Curry (New York Jets), and Xavien Howard (Miami Dolphins).

Tickets for Saturday's game, which will take place at Classic Park in Eastlake, are available for purchase at captainsbaseball.com, www.jarvislandrysoftball.com or by calling the Captains’ Box Office at 440-954-WINS (9467).

Saturday's celebrity game will mark one of Beckham's first public appearances since suffering a season-ending injury in the Browns' Week 7 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals last season. While there has since been speculation regarding the three-time Pro Bowl receiver's future in Cleveland, Browns general manager Andrew Berry has remained adamant that Beckham remains a part of the team's plans moving forward.

"I talked with Odell probably right heading into the last regular-season game playing Pittsburgh," Berry said in January. "His rehab is going really well. He has done a nice job. He looks great. He is in a good mental spot."
