When the Cleveland Browns get back to action, they'll be getting a new-look Odell Beckham Jr.
And it appears that might ring true in more ways than one.
Taking to his personal YouTube channel on Wednesday, the Browns wide receiver provided the latest update on his recovery from offseason core muscle surgery. In the video, the 3-time Pro Bowl selection can be seen working out alongside Dr. David Hancock, a world-renowned physical therapist and strength coach.
"We've been looking after him this offseason in collaboration with the Browns following surgery on his groin," Hancock says in the video. "He's doing really well."
In a separate video posted in May, Beckham opened up about the sports hernia injury, which hampered him throughout an admittedly underwhelming first season in Cleveland. Catching 74 passes for 1,035 yards and 4 touchdowns in 16 games, the 2014 NFL Offensive Rookie Year produced the lowest single-season stat totals of his career aside from a 2017 campaign in which he played in just four games.
"I was training in June and July, and I was kind of just feeling stuff around the groin area, abs and stuff like that," Beckham said. "I went through training, went through training and I get to August and the third week of training camp, I tear a little piece of my abs. So before the season, I kind of had the hernia thing going on. Sports hernia is what they call it. End up at the end of the season, torn abductor, torn rectus abdominis on the right. So pretty much, I was just f---ed up the whole year. I really didn't try and say anything about it.
"Probably one of the worst surgeries I've ever had. Recovery's going well. Guess I'm really just trying to put my body back together."
While Beckham appears to be on track toward doing just that, that's not the only physical change he appears to be undergoing. As seen in the video posted on Wednesday, the 27-year-old has brought back his signature blonde hair, which was missing throughout the majority of his first year with the Browns.
"I don’t know what’s going to happen with the hair but I just wanted a fresh start,’" Beckham said last summer after cutting his hair.
“I feel a little lighter. And honestly, it was just a fresh start. Just kinda you know you’re not defined by anything. I’m just comfortable with who I am. So we’ll see what happens. There might be some blonde going back in, there were a lot of kids who want it. So if it’s requested I might have to go back to it."
