On Wednesday, the Cleveland Browns will officially unveil their new uniforms.
And while a global pandemic admittedly isn't the most ideal time for a celebration of sorts, the team has found a way to make the most of the awkward timing.
On Monday, the Browns announced the "Hats Off to Our Heroes Fund," which aids "health care professionals, first responders, educational professionals and other groups who are pivotal in the community year-round and are valiantly serving as role models" amid the coronavirus (COVID-19). The initiative will begin with the unveiling of the team's new uniforms, as "for a significant period of time", 100 percent of the team's net proceeds from jersey sales made and online through Fanatics, will be donated to the fund.
Fans can also contribute directly to the fund at https://www.clevelandbrowns.com/community/covid-19/.
“When finalizing our uniform announcement, we realized we had an incredible opportunity to further our support of heroes battling COVID-19 on the front lines for our entire community,” said Executive Vice President JW Johnson. “We hope the excitement surrounding the new uniforms can help make a significant impact through the ‘Hats Off to Our Heroes’ Fund, and we greatly appreciate the support from our fans, retail partners and team to make this special way to give back to those leaders possible.”
While the Browns' new uniforms won't officially be made public until Wedensday, there have already been some clues as to what they might look like. Last week, the team shared a hype video hinting at a return to a more classic look from the modernized style it has donned since 2015 -- a sentiment that was backed up on Monday when Uni-Watch.com's Paul Lukas shared a rendering of three uniforms based off plans he received from a source.
The Browns will officially unveil their new uniforms on ClevelandBrowns.com and their social media channels.
