CLEVELAND — After being ejected from his team's season opener for kicking an opponent, many assumed that Cleveland Browns left tackle Greg Robinson could find himself facing a suspension.
As a it turns out, that may not be the case.
According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, Robinson will not be suspended for kicking Tennessee Titans safety Kenny Vaccaro in the second quarter of the Browns' 43-13 season-opening loss. As a result, the former No. 2 overall pick will be eligible to take the field next week when Cleveland faces the New York Jets in a Week 2 matchup on Monday Night Football.
Per Pelissero, Robinson will be fined as the result of his kick, which caused him to miss the entire second half of the Browns' loss.
Robinson's ejection served as a significant blow to a Cleveland offensive line that was already considered one of the team's weaknesses entering the 2019 campaign. His absence was only amplified when his backup, Kendall Lamm, left the Browns' loss to the Titans with a knee injury, forcing Cleveland to shift right tackle Chris Hubbard to left tackle and insert reserve guard Just McCray to right tackle.
Facing a Jets defense run by former Cleveland interim head coach/defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, the Browns are going to need their offensive line to perform better than it did vs. Tennessee on Sunday. In addition to surrendering five sacks to the Titans, it was Cleveland's offensive line that committed several of the 18 penalties that cost the Browns 182 yards in their season opener.
