CLEVELAND — According to NFL insider Adam Schefter, Cleveland Browns RB Jerome Ford is expected to miss a week or two due to a 'low grade, high ankle sprain.'
Ford suffered the injury after being stopped for a loss after receiving a toss from QB PJ Walker early in the fourth quarter of the Browns' victory in Indianapolis against the Colts.
Ford landed awkwardly on his right leg while being tackled by a Colts defender.
As the roster currently stands, Kareem Hunt and Pierre Strong Jr. are the only two running backs on the 53-man roster. Earlier today, the team waived RB Dion Jackson who was active Sunday after being signed to the active roster from the practice squad.
The Browns currently have an open roster spot due to waiving Jackson. Whether or not they use that open spot to add a running back to the active roster is currently up in the air.
QB PJ Walker is out of practice squad elevations and must be signed to the 53-man roster if the team wants him available to play in Week 8 against the Seattle Seahawks.
