Fox Sports Radio host Colin Cowherd has made a career out of spewing "hot takes," and lately many of those have been directed at the Browns and quarterback Baker Mayfield. Now, one popular Cleveland t-shirt company is firing back.
Fresh Brewed Tees on Wednesday released a new shirt going directly after Cowherd. Referencing his midday show The Herd with Colin Cowherd, the design instead takes the show's logo and reads The Nerd, complete with a drawing of Cowherd wearing stereotypically dorky glasses and bow tie.
Cowherd, who has a history of making controversial statements (notably when he implied former Washington Redskins star safety Sean Taylor brought his own murder on himself), has lately drawn the ire of Browns fans for his dismissive criticism of the team, especially Mayfield. The two have not gotten along well since Mayfield was at Oklahoma, and after Mayfield shotgunned a beer at an Indians game this past weekend, Cowherd again took the QB to task, and called the Browns "the NFL's best frat house."
"Best parties, best beer-chuggers, a lot of alpha, the funniest guys -- of course, like the Browns, the plumbing hasn't worked at that frat house in 28 years. And I'd never, ever, want to live at a frat house," Cowherd said. "But the best time for a frat house is rush week. September. No big midterms yet, no big finals yet. The front door is still on its hinges. They're throwing the best parties. The weather is perfect. Everybody is still qualified for school. Nobody's been thrown out yet. It's rush week at the NFL's best frat house."
Of course, Fresh Brewed Tees has a shirt for that, too, also releasing a design reading "Welcome to the frat house."
The Browns officially open the preseason Thursday night against the Redskins.
