While the Cleveland Browns' 2019 season didn't have many positives, Nick Chubb winning the rushing title was supposed to be one of them.
But after the second-year running back rushed for a season-low 41 yards on just 13 carries in the Browns' 33-23 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, he failed to extend his lead far enough out of reach. Despite entering Sunday with a 124-yard head start, Chubb's was eclipsed by Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry, who rushed for 211 yards vs. the Houston Texans on Sunday.
With his 211 yards, Henry's rushing total for the season now stands at 1,540 for the season. Chubb, meanwhile, ended the year with 1,494 yards, finishing with less than 50 yards in each of the Browns' final two games.
Had Chubb managed to stave off Henry, it would have given the Browns their first rushing champ since Leroy Kelly in 1968. Nevertheless, the 24-year-old's 2019 season was good for the fourth-best in Cleveland history, trailing Jim Brown's 1963, 1965 and 1958 seasons.
