Second-year stars Baker Mayfield and Nick Chubb are up for FedEx Air and Ground Awards after leading the Cleveland Browns to a win over the Baltimore Ravens Sunday.

CLEVELAND — Running back Nick Chubb and quarterback Baker Mayfield led the Cleveland Browns to a 40-25 victory over the Baltimore Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore last Sunday, and they garnered national attention with their performances.

Mayfield and Chubb are among the finalists for the FedEx Air and Ground Player of the Week awards and Browns fans have a chance to help their players bring home the honors.

Mayfield is contending for the FedEx Air Player of the Week Award against Jameis Winston (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) and Philip Rivers (Los Angeles Chargers), while Chubb is going up against Leonard Fournette (Jacksonville Jaguars) and Frank Gore (Buffalo Bills).

Chubb was disappointed in himself after a Sunday Night Football loss to the Los Angeles Rams at FirstEnergy Stadium and he took out those frustrations on the Ravens.

With the memory of being stopped on fourth-and-nine in the second half still fresh in his mind, Chubb rushed for 165 yards and three touchdowns, including two third-quarter scores and an 88-yard scamper in the fourth quarter, which helped seal that helped seal the 15-point victory over the Ravens and put them into first place in the AFC North Division after the first quarter of the 2019 season.

In his second road start against the Ravens, Mayfield exorcised the demons from the Week 17 game in 2018 and engineered seven scoring drives by completing 20 of his 30 attempts for 342 yards with one touchdown and an interception.

Mayfield took one sack on the opening drive for a five-yard loss, but was able to avoid Baltimore’s fierce pass rush for the remainder of the game. It was the least amount of sacks allowed by the Browns in any single game this season.

After inconsistent play over the first three weeks of the season, Mayfield engineered five touchdown drives, and the second-year quarterback said his success and the achievements of the offense come down to individual improvements.

And that was obvious from the first of those scoring drives.

Mayfield was seven for eight for 87 yards with a nine-yard touchdown to tight end Ricky Seals-Jones on the drive, and had to overcome a first-and-25 after a blindside block from wide receiver Damion Ratley on a Chubb run.

Following the penalty, Mayfield completed an 18-yard pass to tight end Pharaoh Brown, and then, a 19-yard swing throw to running back Dontrell Hilliard that turned a third-and-two from the Baltimore 35-yard line into a first-and-goal from the nine.
