CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio — There aren't many athletes who have served as the host of "Saturday Night Live." Then again, there aren't many athletes with personalities as big as Travis Kelce's.
Just three weeks removed from the Kansas City Chiefs' victory over the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII, Kelce will hit the stage at 30 Rockefeller Plaza's Studio 8H, where he'll host Saturday night's episode of "SNL" along with musical guest Kelsea Ballerini. Ahead of Saturday night's highly anticipated show, SNL's social media accounts released a series of promos featuring the Cleveland Heights native preparing for his upcoming gig alongside Ballerini and cast member Heidi Gardner.
In one clip, Gardner urges Ballerini to change her last name to "Travis" so that the host and musical guest can be named Travis Kelce and Kelsea Travis. Ballerini then suggests that Kelce could also change his first name to Ballerini, to which the tight end replies "I've always wanted to be a ballerina" before performing a pirouette.
In another clip, Kelce jokes about the number of hits he's taken to the head as he lists off some questionable similarities between hosting SNL and playing tight end. The final promo shows Gardner coaching Kelce as if she were a football coach, complete with a whistle.
An eight-time Pro Bowl selection, Kelce is no stranger to the spotlight, as he and his brother, Eagles center Jason Kelce, became the first brothers to play against each other in the history of the Super Bowl. Tallying six receptions for 81 yards and a touchdown, Travis played a key role in helping lead the Chiefs to what was ultimately their second Super Bowl victory in the past four years.
Saturday Night Live will air nationally on NBC and locally on WKYC at 11:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, March 4.
