Trying to handicap what the Cleveland Browns are going to do with the 1st and 4th overall picks of the 2018 NFL Draft is becoming next to impossible as we close in on Thursday.
While Las Vegas seems to have the Browns going with USC QB Sam Darnold, national sports outlets have been all over the place on Monday.
From Peter King of the MMQB and Sports Illustrated: Darnold to the Browns at #1, N.C. State DE/OLB Bradley Chubb at #4
"Someone I trust, who is very often right and is very well-connected, told me Sunday it’s not Allen (as in Wyoming QB Josh Allen)."
King adds (and I agree) that Browns GM John Dorsey "will have multiple options here if he wants to move" out of the 4th overall pick. He believes that for the moment, Chubb is the pick at 4.
From Dan Patrick of NBC & The Dan Patrick Show on radio: The Browns like Allen and Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield
Watch what Dan says a scout told him about how the top of the draft could shape out:
ESPN NFL Draft analyst Todd McShay: It will be either Allen or Sam Darnold at No. 1
"The majority of reactions I've received are some form of: 'I keep hearing Allen, and I'm surprised.' It will be either Allen or Sam Darnold at No. 1.
"At No. 4, the Browns will run the card up and take either Saquon Barkley or Bradley Chubb, from what I'm hearing. The question is only which one."
At this point, I'm really hoping the Browns don't trade down and decided to take a difference-making player at #4, be it Chubb, Barkley, Minkah Fitzpatrick, etc.
Former Browns CEO Joe Banner:
I'll let that tweet speak for itself.
