Social media reacted with both shock and intrigue after Tom Brady announced on Tuesday that he'll be leaving the New England Patriots this offseason.

On Tuesday, Tom Brady created the biggest headline of the NFL offseason when he announced that he'll be leaving the New England Patriots as a free agent after 20 seasons with the team.

It didn't take long for social media to react with both shock and intrigue to the 6-time Super Bowl champion's announcement, which results in one of the most high profile free agencies in NFL history.

Selected in the sixth round of the 2000 NFL Draft, the 42-year-old Brady has spent the entirety of his 20-year career in New England, winning four NFL MVP awards, playing in a record nine Super Bowls, winning six of them. Dating back to last year, when he restructured his contract to become a free agent, many have speculated about Brady's future with the Patriots, with the Los Angeles Chargers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers having most recently been linked as suitors.
