BEREA, Ohio — Heading to Vegas, baby!
Baldwin Wallace University is sending a group of 25 students from the sports management program to Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas, Nevada.
For the past 12 years, BW has sent a group of students to the Super Bowl.
Assistant Professor Tony Dick tells 3 News the program continues to enhance the experience for students every year with a wide range of networking opportunities.
"I worked for the Browns for 23 years, so no real connection to a Super Bowl, but still connections nonetheless in the NFL, so when I got here, we were already doing the Super Bowl trips," Dick said. "We've just ramped it up a bit."
Students attending say they are excited to build their own industry connections within the NFL world and bring what they learned in the classroom into practice, along with memories of the Big Game back home to Northeast Ohio.
"This is my third Super Bowl, could be my last, so the networking opportunity and the people that you meet, it's (a) really eye-opening opportunity ... once in a lifetime," senior sports management major Ryan Gorman said.
A surreal thrill, senior sports management major Allisa Scattino said.
"Over the years, I've been able to see what I want to get into in the sports and what I don't want to get into, so just being able to have this hands-on experience and connect with individuals that will be able to help us just like our professors do, is once in a lifetime."
While in Vegas, the program has added a number of events to the BW student experience, like the Pro Football Hall of Fame Luncheon, working in the press box and meet and greets with former NFL players.
The students will return to Northeast Ohio on Monday after the Super Bowl on Sunday Feb. 11.
