GLENDALE, Ariz. — Regardless of the outcome of Super Bowl LVII, Donna Kelce knew she would have mixed feelings.
After all, it was her two sons who were squaring off in the first-ever Super Bowl to feature a pair of brothers on opposing teams.
So after Travis Kelce's Kansas City Chiefs defeated Jason Kelce's Philadelphia Eagles 38-35 in Glendale, Arizona, on Sunday, Donna headed to the field at State Farm Stadium with two missions: to celebrate with Travis and console Jason. Cameras from NFL Films captured both moments, in what marked the culmination of what had been a two-week-long storyline featuring the family from Cleveland Heights.
Appearing on the podcast he co-hosts alongside his brother, "New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce," an emotional Jason discussed the moment.
"The moment I saw Mom is when I got really emotional," Jason said, fighting back tears. "Because, man, it was so awesome... she was on top of the world for a week."
"She was the heavyweight champ, man," Travis added. "She was on top of it and she shined the whole time. That was the coolest part. Mom, you actually killed it. Dad, you've been killing it."
"It was just so cool, man, to see her get to celebrate in that with us," Jason said. "It was an awesome moment. Just so happy for her. And so happy that she got her moment, Dad got his. So I was the only, ironically, you lose the Super Bowl and you're crying after the game. And they're not tears of sadness, they're tears of joy."
